Baking Day

by Sab on September 4, 2011

These photos are from the many different things we cooked that day: we started out with chocolate cupcakes, white chocolate icing and lemon tart. Leftover tart pastry was cut into shapes with cookie cutters and baked for later consumption. There was also a kind of coffee meringue stack which had layers of chocolate and cream (not pictured), made for a gluten intolerant friend. Anyhow, on with the photos!

I piped this pink rose onto the cupcake. I wonder if it would have looked neater if a flower nail was used to form the flower first, then transfer it to the cupcake.

I’ve been thinking about buying a flower nail for some time but I really don’t decorate baked goods often enough to remember that I want to buy one. However, you’ll be the first to know when I get one, I’ll be eager to post pictures of my demented creations!

It was a fun day though :) We all worked together to put the ingredients together, decorate and wash up. We had to taste everything we’d made during and after baking, so naturally, all of us were in sugar comas by the end of the day.
