The Inspired Plate last theme for this year is Celebrate! It’s the very last day of the year and I am celebrating the end of 2012 and a wonderful year with the lovely ladies of The Inspired Plate by sharing with you images of summery treats that I enjoy - vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing and lemonade :D
That lemonade quote “Did you wash those lemons” is courtesy of my little brother. The black specks are from the vanilla and cardamom in the spiced lemonade recipe. My family give me the kind of grilling that keeps me well grounded ;)
In terms of the lemonade, it wasn’t too bad but Tom thought the last lemonade recipe we made tasted better. We still drank it all (with the help of my family). Was a good way to use up the massive surplus of lemons we have from our tree in the backyard!
The cupcake recipe I chose had almond meal in it, which helped add an interesting texture to the cupcake. I decided to go with buttercream because I wanted to practise my piping skills! It was a good decision because the cupcakes came out of the oven with crazy uneven tops and the buttercream hides it all :D
