Woodland Table + Gingerbread Cookies {Perth Food Photography}

I haven’t updated this blog for a little while because of solid studying for my final exams and celebrating graduation. I had just enough time to recover on Sunday and today, I challenged myself to styling, cooking, editing and blogging this update in one day! Considering my time limitations, I’m happy with what I managed to put together :)

If you want to open up a new tab and follow our little circle around, feel free to check out what beautiful things Jen Olson has prepared this month: Jennifer Olson | California Food Photographer |

Woodland Table Settings

Please excuse the shoddy piping on the gingerbread. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, eh?

I used a new gingerbread recipe this time – from the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook – I was too lazy to type it up – I found the recipe here. I absolutely love this recipe, it has more spices than other recipes (all spice, ground ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg) and includes dark molasses / treacle. Additionally, the half teaspoon of salt makes these cookies taste a lot more balanced than most, not too sugary.

Would love to enjoy this table setting with a full meal. Perhaps I will prepare one tonight… right after I’ve cleaned up the kitchen. There is a gigantic mess in there and Tom is home and wondering what is for dinner… Gingerbread, apparently.

So that’s all I’ve got time for today, but before you go, I want to know:

If you arrived at my house and the dining table was covered in artificial grass, would you be weirded out or cool with it?

    Tammy Bilodeau - looks great Sab! I live your tablescape too! Your so creative, and all your little details flow together so nicely… could teach me a thing or two about the art of design. Great job

    Kim - Liv Life - First of all… congratulations!! I proud of you Sab, as my son has begun researching what med school is all about I am aware of the hours that go into what you have done, and you did it! Congratulations!!
    And the fact that you keep us all motivated to get our posts together. Thank you! and your table is awesome!! Your piping skills have outpiped mine… I’m SO not a decorator.
    Grass on the table… first I thought, no. But the more I think about it, the more fun I see it! But, I’m an elbow on the table person (My mom still gets after me about that), and it might be scratchy?
    Your photos are all beautiful, but I think on of my favorites is Tom eating the cookie. That’s your new lens, right? It rocks!!
